Loch Rannoch Highland Club Review: Everything You Need to Know
Loch Rannoch Highland Club Is This the Best Place to Stay in Kinloch Rannoch (GB)?
The Club is located along the historic main route leading north to Scotland’s west coast, famously referred to as the Road to the Isles. However, significant road construction during the 19th century has bypassed the area, allowing it to remain unspoiled and unchanged.
Loch Rannoch Highland Club features 85 delightful self-catering properties, available for rent or as potential membership for those wishing to experience Rannoch more frequently. The Club’s 85 lodges are situated on a hillside within seven acres of private grounds. Each lodge offers stunning views of Loch Rannoch and breathtaking mountain landscapes. The accommodations can accommodate 4, 6, or 8 guests, and come equipped with fully functional kitchens, modern bathrooms, linens and towels, as well as parking facilities. Several lodges include private saunas, while others grant access to a shared sauna on site. A selection of lodges has been specifically designed to be accessible for individuals with disabilities. Pets are welcome, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the premises, along with complimentary private parking.
There’s a wealth of activities available in the Rannoch and Tummel region. Whether you are a passionate hiker, biker, Munro-bagger, or nature enthusiast, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy activities like archery, fishing, stalking, and shooting amidst the stunning backdrop of mountains, moors, and of course – Loch Rannoch. Guided tours can be arranged through Highland Travel, or you can opt to take the train to Corrour and walk approximately 9 miles back to Rannoch Station, or continue on to Fort William and Mallaig for a day trip from the remote Rannoch Station.
The village of Kinloch Rannoch serves as an excellent starting point for exploring the Clan Trail. Various informative storyboards are positioned at accessible spots around the loch shore, sharing captivating tales of the clans that flourished in the area during the 19th and 20th centuries. An artificial island known as a Crannog, located near the far west of the loch, was utilized in the 18th century as a refuge for outlawed members of the MacGregor Clan.
For families, there is a well-equipped children’s play park in Kinloch Rannoch village, situated next to the Old Church of Rannoch, south of the river and close to the Country Store.
Additionally, numerous picnic spots are available for family outings. Remember to leave no trace and only take photos and cherished memories home with you.
Couples especially appreciate the location — they scored it a remarkable 9.2 for a romantic getaway.
